Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) was a scholar and writer who developed a new view of dreams and their relationship to society. He wrote "dreams are the individual myths and myths are society's dreams". In THE POWER OF THE MYTH Campbell wrote"Dream is a personal experience of that deep, dark ground that is society's dream. The myth is the public dream and the dream is the private myth. If your private myth, your dream, happens to coincide with society, you are in good accord with your group."
As Jung would say, dreaming is entering into the "collective consciousness" We can also approach this by believing in our wish(dream) for ourselves. When we creatively visualize our destiny, we allow the wish/dream to penetrate our subconscious minds and then it leaks into the collective consciousness. What happens is simply this....If you can really and truly believe something, everyone else will too.
